Do a search for "cold heat soldering" Coleman makes an inexpensive tool. Works well for minor jobs.

I have one of the Cold Heat soldering tools. So far I haven't had a problem soldering wires for lights, circuit boards, etc.
Here's the site for it.

We use them at work sometimes, they do the job but the batteries drain really fast.

butane is your best bet for portable
or you could get a 12v dc to 120v ac converter and run a real soldering iron off your battery for a while
Thats a funny one there!

I concur on a Butane Soldering Iron. I have one that has functioned for almost every soldering job for over 15 years - although I would guess they don't make 'em like they used to.

The home depot one looks pretty good for very cheap, but haven't tried it.

I actually have one like this without the case. Got it off the Mac Tool truck 15 or so years ago. Think I gave $25-30 for it. Works like a charm.

Weller makes a killer butane soldering kit that sells for about 60-70$. It'll save you plentty in batteries.
