You really need to find the time and money to get it back on the road.
Tried to find parts for a '72 yamaha 650 lately? Damn near impossible! It does run though. Or at least it did the last time I tried to start it. Lots of memories with this bike. It's the first street bike I ever rode solo, back when I was 13 or 14. It will grace the roads again some day.
Here's ya an old school chopper from the early 70's. It's not a HD, but it's still a chopper. It does have a sportster neck though, holding the 12" over springer. I rode the tank when I was about 3 or 4 years old. Hope to bring it back to it's former glory one day.
That is what most people think of when you say "chopper"...motor makes no difference.
A chopper is a H-D Period. There never were enough Indians to talk about - whoever mentioned that brand. A triumph or BSA phht! Honda ppphhhtt! That is supposed to be a farting sound to indicate my disdain.
I'm glad you like Harley Davidsons; I do too.
But to deny the influence & sheer numbers of British motorcycles chopped & bobbed in the 60s & 70s is to deny history. They almost define "old school".
