I like riding with group of riders like rolling Thunder 400,000 riders.



If you can't ride don't ride with people.





We ride every week end and have funny with two trip a week end.

 

We do some rides with BON and have great fun.

 

What?? A crab shack in Idaho? That's a long way for them little critters to walk. What with the little legs and strange walking style.

 

Group rides can be fun,but they can be scary too. My buddys New EGC got rammed by some girl on a new Softail Heritage and it had to be trailered home ( Nothing against women riders.). She had a learners permit. Dealer sponsored ride attract a lot of newbies, which is cool. It seems like as the years have gone on less and less really know what they are doing when they get in a pack. If we go on any runs we leave in the last group which is people we know that can ride. We're going to have to come visit you and take in Joe's Crab Shack. I love that place, with dancing waiters and good food and tie dye clad employees. Only a 3 hour ride for us. You buying?

You may want to reconsider your distance.
Had a rider here Sunday who was riding shepherd about that distance from the main group according to witnesses.
A lady watching the group go by thought the last bike had passed and she pulled out.He had 20' to try and avoid.Unfortunately he broadsided her and ended up in ICU.

That said I ride shepherd a lot but with a group of 8-10 I've known and ridden with for years.
I do it because I can watch the 3 girls in back
No more than 3-4 bike lengths back usually.

 

Pick what rides you attend. Local HOG chapter rides are safe small groups and they tend watch out for each other.
Large charity rides can be less than safe. Not everyone knows how to ride in a group, some want to show off with wheelies and burn outs, new riders riding over their limit.

Used to do many charity rides for a good cause. Not much any more, couple accidents by people that should never have been there to start with.

Do One big one a yr.. charity, like it, around 600 bikes, thats a bunch for our small town.
We hit four surrounding town making the trip. some gets a little crazy but most part its good for a change.

 

I normally only do two "big group" rides a year, the Memorial Day ride out to the FL National Cemetary at Bushnell, and the Toys for Tots one at Christmas. Otherwise, I'm at most a "four-ship" or less kinda guy.
