Default Bad Powder Job

Alright guys, so I had the aluminum parts clear powder coated because the factory clear was starting to come off. I got the parts back and they must have rushed it because there is what looks like oil and burn marks on some of the parts under the powder.

So, anyone the easiest way to fix this? Could another shop burn off the powder and then re-clear it or am I going to have to sandblast it myself before having it shot again?

Also, they managed to get powder on my rockers.

I figure that I need to get this off, but is blasting the rockers safe?

i would suggest you getting ahold of http://www.etc-pc.com/ he is in tallahassee and he in my opinion is very hard on himself. he will redo any job he or the customer is not pleased with. at least my experience with him. let me add that the local HD dealer and a few indy shops use him.

Yeah, trying to preserve the factory look of the bike, don't really want to chrome it.

Cut a piece of rubber and glue it over anything you don't want to blast. The sand or beads will bounce off the rubber.

That's how they do those fancy wood signs with the raised letters

And the powder coater gave you those parts back looking like that? That looks like a case of he didn't clean the parts before coating or had bad powder. Anyone that did work like that and didn't redo it isn't worth a sh*t.

It would be good if the original PC would do the right thing and fix it free of charge and do it right this time, I will not leave the coater if there's a problem, only had one problem so far over a few year business, apparently someone touched some of the railing while moving it out of the oven and there were smear marks about 4" long , they redid it and I had it back the next day. Since this is clear it will probably will have to be burnt off to redo.

It appears either very shoddy pre prep, either clear coat or something like oil still in the metal or something above it in the oven falling on it maybe from another part in the oven or build up in the oven which must be cleaned off from time to time. Good luck with it, sometimes stuff like this happens, but it is still frustrating at the same time.
