I recommend you get a manual for your bike before you do anything. I change oil in four places on my two HD's. The engine, primary, transmission, and forks. My primary has no filter in either bike but my engine oil does. I don't have an Electriglide so I don't own a manual for your model or year. Oil change intervals are discussed here often with a lot of disagreement. I change oil in my engine and primary every 2500 miles. Transmission every 5000 miles. Fork oil once a year. It is what I do --others do other things.

I average 15,000 to 20,000 miles a year on the two HD's I own. With the exception of this winter I ride 11 months out of the year. This winter sucked and I was lucky to find dry weather that wasn't cold rarely for three months when I wasn't at work. How many miles do you get a year?

I change the primary fluid every time I change the crankcase oil, every 3,000 miles or so.

If I add the miles I put on the dealers services bikes and my bikes. 25K to 35K miles and in the summer time the bikes are use more then the winter time.

The primary usually takes between 26-32 ozs. Check your manual. And don't add 4 quarts on a oil change. Start with 3 and add a little at a time while checking your dip stick. By pouring in 4 quarts you will be siphoning some out. I do both at 5K using syn, mobil 1.
