Heel-toe shifter. Never have to go 'under' the shifter.

I guess I am of a different mindset. I dont mind having a mark on my boots from shifting or worn down outer heels from taking turns low. I believe these are good marks. Lets the world know you actually ride. They are boots after all not some dress shoe...unless i missed something.

yeah, im with you on that, and i'll add that it sounds like the original poster needs to get some real boots. it takes a lot of shifting for decent boots to show any wear.

I have boots that have a hole worn in the top from riding...had a lot of fun getting them that way.

I think the hole would have to be rather large to mess up your toe nail polish.

Yup! my 40 year old riding boots have the shifter tatooed to the top of the left boot.Damn proud of it.
