My wife's 06 883L had an intermittent farting dieing issue from the day she purchased it. I tried everything - free flowing air filter, rejetting, complete dismantle and rebuild of carb, replaced seals between carb and manifold..... Intermittent farting never changed. I had no codes indicating crank sensor was the culprit, but I replaced it anyway. That's two years ago and it has never acted up since. I think HD had some problems with those sensors because the part number has a "C" as the last digit, indicating a redesign at least twice. 32707-01B is what was on the bike when we got it(apparently already a redesigned sensor) and 2 years later they were up to 327027-01C. The service guys at the dealer doubted that the sensor was the problem, but it sure seems to have fixed the problem for us.

My 03 Dyna uses Part number 32798-00. Looks like in 2004 they switched to 32707-01, by 06 they were up to rev 2 (32707-01B) and by 2008 the third revision (32707-01C). At least that's my take on it. Could be wrong. At any rate, 04 touring models and 06 sportsters do use the same sensor according to my parts manuals.

LOL, not dumb....I'll bet it is the same sensor but HD has to assign 397 different part numbers to it so they can screw with your brain when you need one.

My 2004 Ultra uses PN 32707-01 (Original version of same part used on the wife's 06 883L)

The original -01 sensors were "improved" with changes up through the -01B.
The -01C sensor's cable is shorter than the previous models, and that change appears to be related to a redesign of the affected bikes in terms of the cable/plug location. The -01C fits 06 and later Sporties, but the cable is too short for earlier models.
To fit my bike, the -01C cable has to be cut and have 4" extension splices added. It also, in my case, worked no better than the -01B sensor.
It's only my opinion, but at this point, I'm convinced that it's "heat" that's killing these things, and that may explain why some model bikes have more problems with these sensors than other models do due to mounting location, air flow, geographic climate, etc.

You guys are scaring the crap outta me..I'm thinking it was my Crank Sensor that crapped the bed today, causing my '03 Fat Boy to just die..interestingly, when we push started it, it did fire back up and I made it home..after shutting it down the normal way, I tried to re-fire it a few minutes later..won't start..went to the HD shop and bought part 32707-01C.. hoping that fixes the problem..

Replaced crankshaft position sensor
Over 100,000 miles on my 2001 FLSTC. It fired up fine today; however after a few miles it died. I was able to start it again and only made it a few more miles. Replaced the petcock valve and the bike started and ran for a few miles, then it died and would not start. Checked for spark, no spark. Replaced coil and still no spark. Finally, replaced crankshaft position sensor with superseded part number 32707-01C and it worked.
