Default Cool New Camp Chair

I'm looking for a folding chair to keep in a saddle bag (but don't want to spend a load of $) and I came across this. It's an Alite Monarch Butterfly Chair, the smallest packed camping chair around. Not only does it pack down to just 13"x5"x3" (far smaller than a Kermit Chair), it will let you know when you've had enough to drink - you have to lean back and balance on the chair's two feet (if you can no longer balance - it's time to curl up where you landed and call it a night). The frame is made of shock corded aluminum tubes, like a dome tent. Campsaver is offering them for just $50 & free shipping. REI also has them, but a good $ more. The reviews are all very +.

Somewhere between a chair and a ride, and at less than half the cost of a Kermit Chair, I think the Kermit Chair may have met it's match. It's available in evil black, and packs down small enough fit a bunch of these in a saddle bag.

Has anyone tried one of these Alite Monarch chairs?

I have a boy in my scout troop that has one.He loves it and he looks comfortable in it.I haven't tried it because they sit very close to the ground. They look a little hard to get back up from after you sit down....at least for an adult. If you have good knees qand a good back then they will probably work fine.

I just ordered a Blue Max folding chair for the saddle bag. It is a metal and fabric chair that folds up and stores in a bag that will fit in the saddle bag. I saw someone using one on Saturday and googled it today. Price 2 chairs plus shipping $54.00 from J & P.

If I am packing light I use a folding cushion chair that doubles as a 3/4 sleeping pad. Fortunately, with the Classic I have more space to splurge. Don't recall where I bought it.

IF you're fine with being at ground level, there's Crazy Creek original style.

Lightweight, fold up small & flat, flop open to make a 3/4 or longer sleeping pad, also good to put on a bench or table or bleachers for back support.
