Default Neutral or 1st Gear while waiting for light or stopsign?

I like to be in gear & ready to go in case of emergency when I'm waiting for a light or traffic at a stopsign. Lately I've heard proper way is to be in neutral while waiting. Not sure of reason for neutral but maybe someone can shed some light on this. I feel much more comfortable in gear so I can get away fast in case the need should arise.

In gear ready to go. I've heard the neutral rule before but I can't remember what the reasoning was. One of my buds does neutral when stopped but I've never asked him why.

Stay in gear and watch the rear, I might go to neutral if the traffic is going to be stopped for a good while.

I wait in neutral after a vehicle has stopped behind me or if there is no traffic.
I also watch the lights for the other lanes so I can anticipate when mine will turn green and be ready by being in first gear.....

Bottom line...pay attention front to back, side to side, be ready for anything...............
That applies whether you're sittin' still, pulling out of WallyWorld or doin' a 100 in the wide open spaces..............

Neutral is the way to go ..look in your mirrors when stopped.
It dont take long to pop r in gear if you got to go quick

I was rolling up to a red last night..........lost my clutch cable with no warning it snapped

Not 5 minuts before i was in trafic at busy intersections it would not have been pretty
From now on ..its neutral for me.

I guess for the guys on new rides with hydrolic clutches no biggie til the line blows lol

Now you know
