I have an '01 Heritage with factory installed security system which I never use but i went to start it on Sunday and the turn signal lights started flashing and only one light light up on the accessory panel. WhenI pushed the Start button there was total silence.

I did some research and found that the the security system "disables" the ignition so I went and got the fob to stop the flashing but still nothing when I tried to start it. I read that sometimes the battery in the fob is weak and won't reset the security system so I replaced the battery to no avail. Is there a certain sequence or something special that needs to be done to activate the starter and ignition system again??

 

On the 2001 model you have to press the fob button twice to disarm the security like double clicking the mouse on your computer.
