Motorcycles, scooters, 3-wheelers

Motorcycles, scooters, 3-wheelers
and spyder.
A lot of things FEEL like a motorcycle, but are they?
The dictionary says a 2-wheeled automotive vehicle for 1 or 2 people.
My brother almost just bought what he told me was a scooter, but it looked like a motorcycle. I said what's that mean? I looked at a picture, and it absolutely looked like a motorcycle, with the tank right up on top in front of the seat. It was made by a scooter company in China, and still called a scooter. Though it was automatic (no clutch), I'd still call it a motorcycle, and not a scooter.
I wouldn't call a spyder a motorcycle, or a 3-wheeled Harley or one-wing Honda.
It wouldn't keep me from riding with them.
They're just something different, and need a name for the open air type vehicle they are.
In Ca, you don't need a motorcycle endorsement.
I don't care to read a motorcycle magazine with articles about them either.
A scooter is this open step through thing, sure on two wheels. I'll wave at them, and welcome them to the road, doubt if I'd ride with one. Yes, most wear full face helmets, and I'd agree they probably should wear a ff, like the have-to-race rocket guys.
What do you think?

A friend of mine bought a 50cc scooter and I rode it quite a bit, fun for a little bit, but didn't feel like a motorcycle to me. I think it was partly that you sit with your legs together but mostly that the weight of it, especially the lack of weight in the wheels and lack of gyroscopic effect gives it a totally different feel than a real motorcycle. I would like to try a big one like a Yamaha Majesty or Honda Silverwing to see if it is the same deal.
Trikes don't lean, right? I think that would give it a different feel than a motorcycle too.
