Default Beach Bars on my 2005 Heritage Softail. Help please!!

Hello, I am actually going to purchase this bike tomorrow, super excited. My question is regarding the Wild 1 Chubby Beach Bars, I believe the part number is WO550. Can I use the original cables on this bike? or am I going to need to purchase new cables. The bars on the bike right now are a lot higher than the beach bars, but the beach bars are wider. I know I dont have to explain this stuff to you guys, i'm sure you know what Im talking about. It would be a huge savings for me if I could initially use the original cables, so this is why I am asking for the help, please! Thanks everyone for the replies

Usually, you'll get 1-2 inches of slack in the cables. Maybe rerouting will give you another inch, although I doubt it. Your OEM mini ape has 8 inches rise, and is 32,5 inches wide. The handlebar you're looking at is 4 inches wider, and has a load more of pullback. I guess you'll need +4 cables, and you will have to extend your wires, too. Sorry, I guess that's not exactly what you wanted to hear...

Thanks for the advice. I have read some people say that they needed +4'' cables, then I have read in other post that people were able to use the original cables on the bike. Hopefully I can get someone to respond that has my bike and has installed the beach bars on their bike already. I am assuming you were just giving me an educated guess and was not giving me the info first hand? Thanks again

Yes I asked the guy at the harley dealership today but he wasnt sure if they needed the longer cables or not. I am picking the bike up early in the morning and I have the choice to get the bars and cables if I want them. Wit this being said, I wanted to try and find somebody here that has already came across this issue to see if I will definitely need the longer cables and whatnot. So if someone is out there that has came across my situation please help me before the morning!!! hahah Thanks

I really like the choice of beach over the apes ... dislike apes ... think I may do the same next winter. Have you considered a little last minute hardball with the negotiating ... offering to take the bike with beach bars installed and they have a deal. They may counter with a shared price option. Ignore this if the deal has been finalized.

Not sure how much this helps, but I put the WO550 bars on my 1994 Heritage. I did replace the cables (to go to SS), but after a lot of measuring determined that the stock length would be fine. If (and a big if) your stock bars were the same size/shape as mine, you'll be fine with the stock cables. If I was doing it again, I would probably go +2 inches on the clutch cable, only because it rubs on my bars a little. Brake, throttle and idle are fine.

BTW, the bars are great--

+2" cables for BB's.. take a look at BurlyBrand or CycleSmiths. Much better bends then ChubbyWild1's....good luck

FWIW...I replaced the mini apes on my 2004 Heritage Softail with stock bars from a 2008 Deluxe. They LOOK like beach bars to me, but I have no idea if they match yours exactly. I was able to retain all the stock cables and the entire swap took around an hour and 2.5 beers.
