For the demo they were braking the ABS bikes as hard as they could to show us how it worked, I was surprised at how much stopping ditance it added. Now for the actual exercise, those with ABS eqipped bikes were threshhold braking and, I think, did as well as the rest of us. It was only after ABS kicked in that stopping distance was added. I should have explained that better. I'm not opposed to ABS, I think it's probably a good idea, especially when you add wet pavement to the equation.
Not all ABS is the same.
The way you ride a bike with *good* ABS is different than one without. Like cars, an AWD car with ABS will perform a lot differently than a rear wheel drive car without ABS.
I went thru the HD/Northwestern Motor School in 2001. I thought I could ride a motorcycle until day one. It was both physically and mentally demanding. It was a tough two weeks, but I graduated.
For those of you that are wondering if there is a course like this for civilians, there is. It is the Ride Like A Pro course. The only thing is that it is only a four hour course but the RLAP DVD's provide the same information. I plan on taking the RLAP later this year in Houston or Dallas. I already have the DVD and am practicing so that when I take the course the instuctor can advise me on what areas need improvement.

Been looking at this dvd for awhile now, after this thread I finally pulled the trigger and ordered it. Based on some of Stro's descriptions I think when I setup my RLAP practice course I will add a bit of space as I ride a wide glide and don't have crash bars.
