I have bought 3 new sport bikes, one used one and my HD was 1 year old with 9600 miles on it and I got a good price for it, plus it had a ton of bolt on's. I always pay cash for my bikes so $23G is hard to come by for me. I want a SG so bad, but it's still not in the Pic for awhile. I may look for a nice 07 or newer SG in the next year or so. I have had to do rocker box gaskets and a clutch since then and the bike now has 14.6 miles on it. So was it a better deal to get used? In my case maybe not. My 2000 CBR 600F4 was bought used in 2007 with 26K on the clock and I just had to do a rear tire and clutch on it and the big service, but it was needed work as well so I offed it for a new bike. I use to buy used cars and trucks, but now i just get new. The car I got a few months ago was a left over 09 and I got a killer price on it-did the same thing with my last car. I guess it's all in what your comfortable with and the deal you get.

Personally, I don't think that I could bring myself to buy a brand-spankin' new bike, for me it's got to be more of a "close to new" used bike at a very reasonable price.
I'm not even interested in "close to new" - I'd rather have a project bike. On a new one, I'd feel bad about all the changes and personalization I'd have to do.

I bought mine used if you can it that. An 08 with 1865. miles on it with 5 months left on the warranty. There are about $3000.00 in upgrades on the bike that I didn't pay for. I paid the same that I was seeing unmodified same model and year selling for. It helps that I bought it in winter. Time will tell if used was right for me but so far it has been great. This was even through a dealer.

It's all timing as well I think. Back in 04 I was looking at the new Road Glide and sitting next to the bike I was looking at was a used an 02 Road King, damn near identical to mine and the USED sticker price as the same as what I paid for mine new. Don't know how much the dealer would move on it but back in 04, Road King Classics were rolling off the floor as fast as they could roll them on so doubt much of a deal could be made on that used bike. Today, things are quite different and a lot of great deals out there. I don't think I'd a have a problem buying a used bike if the right deal came along!

Have bought both new and used over the years and am fine with either. Just bought a new 2009 Ultra and had bought used since 1980 when I bought my first new bike. Buying new is more expensive but the deal they gave me on my trade in was super. But when I bought used I always made sure I was comfortable that I was buying from someone who knew and took care of their Harley so I have not gotten a bad used bike. If I had a bad experience or two on the used bikes it may make me look more at the new ones.
