Default Neutral engage

I just put a kickstart on my 95 fxdl and am in the middle of adjusting my clutch. I turned the adjusting nut until i felt resistance, backed if off a half turn then locked it down. I'll put it in neutral, (pull in the clutch just for safety's sake) and start it. itll run then when i let the clutch out while in neutral, it'll start engaging. I've tried all different clutch nut adjustments, but it seems to want to take off in neutral. Any help would be appreciated.

That's not the clutch adjustment. If the clutch is engaging where you want it to, the clutch is properly adjusted. The neutral light being on and in gear probably has something to do with the work you did on the tranny.

The only thing I did to the tranny was switching the trap door. The kicker bolted onto that. I put about 100 miles on it since and a few days ago, I was on the highway and the clutch lever wouldn't do anything. Just pulled to the grip like nothing was on the other end of the cable. The clutch was constantly engaged. Now that's fine, but it wants to roll when I let the clutch out in neutral.

That sounds more like an issue with the tranny. If you have it in neutral and its feels like its still in gear??? maybe a shifter fork is out of place.
