Why Are Aluminum Profile Laced Wheels Better Than Steel Laced Wheels?
#3
Could be less weight withthe thinking you will gain performance. nascar tries to cut weight on all rolling stock from the transmission gears to wheels. Less mass to turn, less HP needed to turn it should equal better performance. Don't know if it would be worth it though.. Just a guess.

All of the above, plus some mechanics believe that truing a laced aluminum wheel is easier, since a steel rim once out of true for and ridden for a prolonged period is said to sometimes develop 'a set'....a serious resistance to being pulled back into true with spoke tension.
One thing for certain, I'll never own another bike with spoke wheels...too lazy to clean the damn things.
