I took ratchet tie downs and hooked one end the left side handle bar and then the other end to the garage door rail. I did the same thing on the right side. I cranked the tie downs until I had the motorcycle standing straight up. I then could put the kickstand up and attach the spring. Even then it wasn't until I got the right string of profanity in the proper order that I got the spring attached. The spring was the toughest most simple designed thing I ever took on. All over a salute kickstand I just had to have.

You take the bolt and kickstand stop off of the top of the kickstand and fold the kickstand ALL the way forward. The spring will fall on. Easy. (see picture). It shows a Sporty kickstand but the same procedure works on yours

That's how i did mine and it was real easy. As in no effort at all to put the spring on.

Just replaced the spring on my 05 Road king. Removed the stand nuts so stand was free to go more forward, attached new spring to frame then the stand reinstalled the nut and was done in 20 minutes.

Wish someone had told me that BEFORE I had to fight the bastard on...Three times for trashed bushings! First time I lost the entire assembly...After that, I kept an eye on my bushings!

Glad I could help. When you don't know the procedure and your pulling on that spring as hard as you can something usually lets loose (followed by an extreme pain in something, Fingers, arm, Eyeball...etc)

This is where it is good to put a location in your profile. I too have had to replace the spring, and I did it by unbolting the kickstand and swinging it forward. I have a jack and would be happy to help the OP if he is in my area.

remove the jiffy stand from the bracket. install the spring in the frame and the loose jiffy stand. angle the jiffy stand shaft back into the bracket and reinstall the lock piece and nut. very easy and no effort.
