Just an update for those who what a comparison.....

I've been wearing the Vega XTS naked model for a couple of years but like to try alternatives once in a while. I love the Vegas, they fit my head well (oval shape) & are Dot. It sits low & is very comfortable. Others here have recommended the HCI 100 which I tried & sent back. It sits high & is made for a round head IMO. So I tried the Gmax which others here like & is supposed to be small. It is the smallest DOT in the Gmax line.

I got the flat black carbon & it looks great & is good quality with a comfortable liner. It fits better then the HCI but not as good as the Vega but feels like it can fit both head shapes. Trying it on it looked OK & my wife liked it until I put on the Vega. Now she said the Gmax looked BIG. So I took some measurements. The Vega is a XL & the Gmax is an L & they are very close in fit with the Gmax being a tad tighter. Width for the Vega is 3/4" less the Gmax. front to back is 1/2" less. The Gmax is deeper too.

The winner is the Vega & I think I'm done looking. Again, head shape matters & this is a better fit for oval shaped noggins but you can add a little padding to make it round too.

this is what i have been needing, they sell the carbon fiber ones at my local harley store but they are not cheap by no means!

 

Just receive my Vega naked. I always wear an medium. This helmet fits loose and its just as gig and sits high on top of the head just like all the rest!!!!!!!!! Anothe helmet attemp gone wrong and will add to the pile of helmets I will not use.
