Default Carbon Fiber Helmets: Daytona Helmets vs. ACC Helmets

Many of you know about the ACC recall of all their "DOT" rated helmets. In response to the loss of my ACC, I recently ordered a Daytona carbon fiber Hawk Polo helmet. $153 delivered. The lady at Daytona was very friendly and persuasive, plus knew the product. I order it last Friday and it was delivered today. At first I was concerned because I'd never heard much of anything about Daytona Helmets, but not any more!
First impressions are: this is hands-down a better made helmet than the ACC polo I had. The inside liner is far superior and way more comfortable, and the strap system is WAY better and much more adjustable and comfortable. I say adjustable because there are "Y" brackets on the down-straps that you can adjust forward or aft to fit better around your ears.
I use my shorty for maybe 10k miles per year and this one's definitely a keeper.

I replaced my ACC with an HCI carbon fiber. It's only marginally bigger than the ACC, but is much better padded and has better straps too. I rode the Night Train today roughly 200 highway miles at 80-90mph and the helmet never parachuted on me. Good to hear that the Daytona's a decent piece too.

I have an Acc helmet but have no knowledge of a recall. What's that all about?

if you own a dot helmet, it really is not DOT approved, it failed the tests and a little while back there was a post where someone wearing the DOT helmet had an accident and that's how the recall started. I just bought a Fulmer 3/4 and love it so I ordered their half helmet, very happy with it, a tad bigger than the ACC and way more comfortable and stable on my head, and like the Daytona mentioned about, the straps and quality of the straps way better!

Check out this link:

They will send you a FedEx shipping label. Once they receive the helmet they'll issue a full refund. Call 'em for details.

I also replaced my ACC with a Daytona carbon fiber helmet, and I'm very pleased with it so far. Fits better, and is more comfortable too. I haven't tried it without the windshield yet, so not sure how that's gonna work, but so far I couldn't be happier with it. Still waiting for my shipping label from ACC.
