Popping on Decel

Popping on Decel
Do you like it or does it drive you nuts?
I'm just getting to know my bike and it has some popping on decel. I've read up on it ..on many previous posts, seems it is relatively harmless and "normal", so I'm not too worried.
I happen to think it sounds cool. do you?

I don't know anything about that new fangled fuel ejection stuff but,
On a carbed bike, if it is truly backfiring on a decel, it needs tuned. Most likely running too lean.

I wouldn't worry about minor popping on decel. After I installed the Monster Ovals on the Ultra I noticed popping on decel. Nothing else had been changed and I actually thought it sounded kinda cool, like muscle cars running slightly rich. The Ultra popped during deceleration for more than 18 months until I recently installed Vance & Hines true-dual headpipes. Since the change of headpipes there has been no popping whatsoever. It could be that I had a minor exhaust leak with just the slip-ons that was corrected with the installation of the duals. I don't know for sure but I say ride it and enjoy it or check for exhaust leaks if the popping bothers you.

when I first got mine it had decell popping all the way down when down shifting, with a loud backfire once in a while...ended up being an air leak in the pipes...
fixed that and its 95% gone... some time a little gurgle once in a while,, I'm fine with that.

A little poping is cool, but too much and it sounds like crap IMO. With the new pipes and tune my bike only pops now and then and I can live with that, but when I had the SE slip on's with no baffles it poped like crazy and I did not like that. I did notice that they always pop more when cold, but not so bad once warmed up. Too much poping can mean an air leak in the pipes or the bike is running to lean.
