Default I got hit from behind too

I got hit stopped on the high-way stopped in traffic (merging onto another high-way) in
MA. Fortunately for me, he had insurance. Nailed me, skidded 20 feet, witnesses saw everything. I was wearing the right gear but still taken away in an ambulance etc... I was fine, just a sore foot for 3 months and a few bruises - amazing nothing was broken. I was very lucky. 9800.00 in damage to my Ultra, he was 100% at fault. Because I was put in an ambulance I didn't get any of his info, his name, nothing. MA has 10 days to file the police report and my insurance CO had to get a copy from the MA Registry. It took forever!!!! Make a long story short, I'm fine, it took 6 months to get my bike back (it was over the winter anyway). Cost me 0 dollars. Everyone told me to sue, but I didn't - bike was covered and I was okay. In hindsight, I should have sued for pain and suffering ONLY BECAUSE I lost 2 months of the riding season up here ;-)
Picked up the bike 1 month ago and you'd never know there was an accident.

Glad to hear you are okay and hope the cost isn't too bad for you. Since the accident I've put on a Bad *** Light and a mini beast horn.

Sorry to hear about another stupid cage driver not paying attention. Glad to hear you are OK. Here in Ohio, get in an accident with no license and they tow away your car. Just keep thinking about retirement, been retired for 3 years now, it's GREAT!

Default Whether the POS car is worth it or not

I personally would put the lean on the car and sell it on craigslist to try And get some money back. Take her to small claims court? If it hasnt already been spent she may have a tax return coming that you could maybe get a chunk of.

Glad you are OK sorry about the bike.

Now, thanks to Alabama's wonderful laws, she has two tickets. And she got to drive her car home.

Now I get to see how good Mt. Cheaha H-D is at fixing the bikes they sell. I'll trailer it up there Friday.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

They are required to have it in Arizona but that doesn't matter, they still don't have it and then they want the rest of us to get "Uninsured Motorist Insurance" to pay for those that don't want to get insurance.

well Mike the best part of your story is that your almost ready to retire. I will tell you that I wish I was..... Still at least 10 years to go. The laws in our country arent worth the paper that they are written on. No License and No Insurance, is a everyday thing here in Illinois where I work. These people get arrested and nothing happens. Not to mention if they have insurance and no license the insurance company will more than likely not pay out because the driver has no license. It just plain sucks, but I dont think it will get better anytime soon! As for states with required insurance (like Illinois) thats worthless too, if they get caught without it, they are fined 500.00. That does nothing to repair your damaged property. As Mike said unless one of these law makers families gets hurt, nothing will be done.... Mike, just think retirement my brother you are almost there!!!! Happy retirement!

Alabama sure is a forgiving state - no license? eh, forget about it - enjoy your drive... ??? Please insure your car? Don't want to? oh, okay, forget about that too

If i was a judge, i would sentence the irresponsible, unobservant b!tch to be your personal servant.
Let her work her debt off @ min.wage/hour scrubbing your toilet, pulling your weeds, ect.

Had it happen to me with 450 miles on it the thursday after I picked it up. She was reading a book at a stop light and saw the cars in the left lane were moving due to the left turn light, and accelerated right into me. At least she had insurance in my case.
Good to hear you are close to retirement. If I am allowed by the government to retire at 65 I have 43 more years, (and no I don't have a government job.) So congrats for that aspect and remember the bike can be fixed.
