When is "old" too old to ride?

My wife has told me that when I get to old to ride safely..
She will trike my bike...and attach it to a chain and post in the back yard..
I will ride round and round and at lunch, she will come out and turn me around

Just met two guys are in their 70s...one just bought a new Road king, the other has a tricked out Street Glide. They both tell me ...no slowing down for them! One even dropped the bike...needed help picking it up...he says O well! What a great attitude to have!

I don't know if there is any such thing as a certain age to quit. Abilities dictate that, not age. Some people become frail and have a diminished capacity for basic factors like being able to see properly, hold their balance, turn their head .. that kind of thing. This can happen at any age. You just have to make that judgment for yourself.
Krikey .. I'm in my 50's and I am already feeling my diminished abilities. My eyesight, my flexibility .. Pffftttt ... even my memory. .. This getting old crap is no fun at all!
So, not only might I forget where I'm going ... but, I might not be able to see good enough to recognize my surroundings. I might just simply be in my glory enjoying all this 'new' scenery. I might not be able to even understand why all the people on the road are frantically waving at me .. Is it because I'm driving in the wrong direction down a one way street or because, in MY world, .. I'm probably think'n they are just being really friendly, and I will, of course, just wave back in my friendly low 'biker' wave. I might even be oblivious to all the honking horns, and the 'wake' I leave behind. I might like to just turn my hearing aid down just a little bit too much. I like the quiet, when I'm rid'n. Nothing like it! For that matter, I can't even see anything in my mirrors (they NEVER make those things big enough!) and can't turn my head enough to see what's going on behind me as I'm doing 20 in a 60 zone.. so what do I care! I might just be happy being out there on a beautiful sunny day ... It's a great day ... and all is good in the world .... That is ... As long as I am fully dressed, and not just wearing a diaper and a smile (I hope I remember to put m'teeth in) .. Cause, THAT would be embarrassing.

Last year I met a man who was 82 on a softail, riding to meet his son and, some other friend's 3 were in thier 70's,his son and a couple other's were in thier 50's.He was riding a little over a hundred mi. to meet them, then going around lake mich.I later that same week met a couple in thier 70's,who had ridden most of the lower 48 and, planned on Alaska soon.I also met a man who was 70 something riding to meet his old road partner,he was sad about it because his friend had gotten lost in his home state and,his son told him dad was forgetting a lot and,he did'nt want him lost for good.Go till ya can't,then look at the pictures, even if they are in your head.

Been riding since I was 12 and turn 64 this year. No intention of not riding, listening to classic southern rock, looking at good looking women and chasing my wife around the bedroom. Maybe a Trike in the distance future. Have told my Wife and Kids the hardest thing they will have to do is take my bike away. If you let yourself feel old then you will get old!!
