Any comfortable work boots that are higher than the ankle will be fine. I see no sense in spending $200+ for "motorcycle boots" unless you are so inclined. Been using Army boots from the 60's that have had soles and heels replaced several times, and some work boots that have turned into yard boots.
I was wondering about that myself - got a pair of caterpillar steel toe with the slip resistant soles ... wasnt sure if the steel toe would be bad for shifting with or not (haven't worn them on the bike yet)
Wanting to pick up some new motorcycle boots, but I'm concerned that I'm gonna get stuck with something uncomfortable ....
Basically I want a pair of boots that I can ride and walk in - all day boots.
They are used by SWAT/Police units. Comfortable all day wear, lightweight and have a Gore-Tex version that's pretty waterproof. It's all I'd ever wear.
I've been wearing Double H 12" AG7 Work Western boots for the last 7 or 8 years and absolutely love them. Extremely well made and comfy. They look great too.
I have had Harley Casper boots, which were fine. I have had Justins and they were very comfortable for walking and riding. I recently bought a pair of Chippewa Super loggers and must say they are the most comfortable boot I have ever owned. They are a little big but you get used to them. They are steel toed and work fine on the bike. The toe is a little thick, it is difficult to get my toe under the shifter but since I have a heel toe setup it is fine.
