Default Tire valve stem pin backed out while riding

I went for a ride today and as soon as I got off the interstate my front tire went flat. I made it to a gas station to put air in it and I found my valve stem pin had backed out partially and air was leaking out. Has anyone else ever had this happen to them? This is a first for me. I tightened my valve stem pin filled the tire with air and I was good to go. I now keep a valve stem tool in my saddlebag.

My entire valve stem backed out partially. Never heard of that happening on a mag wheel, but anyone who has an old bike might want to check theirs.
My tire actually didn't go "flat". The sidewalls are stiff enough that you couldn't tell by looking at it that it had only a few pounds of pressure in it. But you could tell by riding it.

Never had that happen but keep and tool and patch kit in my bags whenever I'm going out of town. Don't want to have to do a side of the road flat repair but it beats sitting if you can't get any help.

I keep the valve stem tool with me as well, however I haven't had one back out on me. I did have one go bad where I couldn't air-up my tire.

Happened to me on the way home from a trip to Mississippi. Back tire went flat at 75 mph. A bud towed the bike home for me and when I put it on the lift the next day I found the schrader valve was gone. I installed a new one, aired the tire up and it was good. Just to be safe I replaced the whole valve stem assembly.

Glad you don't own an airplane. Simple preventive maintenance would have prevented that. I periodically check my air pressure weekly and also ensure the schrader valve is secured and tightened.

Aww Hell, in 40+ years of riding motorcycles and driving cars i have never had a valve stem come loose. Now I have to get a spare valve stem and tool to keep in my ever growing tool kit.
