You've been misinformed about NEVER being able to register your bike in CA. The only requirement the state has for registering an OS vehicle is it has to have 7500 miles on it. Put the miles on it and then register it. There will be an additional one time fee added on to the normal registration fees for the OS vehicle.

I recently tried to register my '07 SG in CA and was shocked when they told me that I can never register my motorcycle in CA because it is an out of state bike and has less than 7500 miles on it. The bike was my dad's, who passed away last summer, and was given to me after he died.
So now what the hell am I supposed to do? I have a brother who lives in AZ, which is the state my bike was registered in. Should I use his address and register it out of state? If so won't the police give me crap about not registering it in CA (I have a CA license).
If anyone's gone through this bullshit before please give me any suggestions you think would help.

Yes you will get crap from the LEO's if you get stopped. With respect to the inheritance clause, I'm not an atty. but it probably would be the best route to take. Have your fathers wife write something up saying it was your dad's bike, blah, blah, get it notarized. Not sure if it would work or not.
Gotta luv these posts good way to further your education.

It must be something about living on the west coast that
turns so many folks into tree hugging liberal righteous souls. We got 'em in BC as well. So many folks know what's best for everyone else. Just mentioning nuking CA will probably cause a bunch of people to write letters to the editor.

That's why 310 million of us citizens choose not to live in Kommiefornia. Too many state government regulations on the ordinary populace. Too much bereaurocracy is a bad thing. And Cali surpassed that long ago. This "Tea Party" movement is going to be something the "old guard"in D.C. and elsewhere, is going to have to deal with sooner than they anticipated and they are not going to be amused.
