Angry It is a buyer's Market

We have been trying to sell a couple of our bikes the last few months and we have been keeping an eye on the market.

The market Sucks!

My wifes 09 Softail Deluxe we have to sell because of surgery on her neck, it hurts her when she rides and we still owe 17,300 on it. The blue book is 16,645 and they are selling on the street for 15 - 16,000. So forget selling that bike.

My 08 Softail Custom the blue book is 14,800. They are selling around here for 15 - 16,000 and mine is for sale at 14,000 and not one call...........not one.

Oh, we did get one e-mail offering 23,000 for the bike and send them a check for the remaining 9,000.00. Yea...........like that is going to happen!

We are taking our bikes off the market.

Hope if you are selling a bike in this economy, you have better luck that we are.

Ride Safe

I hope the right buyer appears pretty soon. Sometimes you're bike might speak to the right person.

What part of the country are you in?

Definitely a buyer's market right now...got a friend trying to sell a beautiful '05 Heritage, low mileage, well maintained (w/lot's of extras), and can't get a nibble at $10K...

Used bike prices are down and the market is flooded. Last October, I bought a '07 Softail Custom with 461 miles for only 11K. The bike was a bank repo.

Don't believe what you hear on the news about the "great economic recovery" or that "the recession is over". the market sucks..period. Not happening unless you are big banks or wall street. You could keep listing them on craigslist for free and see if the right buyer comes along.

Folks are going to have trouble getting financing and most do not have that kind of cash on hand. A smart buyer with available cash or finacing will be able to get a heck of a deal.

Don't expect the situation to get any better, at least not in the next few years. Healthcare and Cap and Trade are going to hit everyone's discretionary spending which is going to make financing even tighter. If Cap and Trade passes everything is going to cost more, as everything requires electric and fuel to get manufactured and distributed. Just our government looking out for us.

The writing was on the wall so to speak 2 years ago when I bought my heritage.
The guy had it listed for 6 mos and I hemmed and hawed for 2 mos before I took the time to see it.
He hadn't had one nibble, but then again it is a unique color combo and old school styling.
Good luck with the sale.
I'd love to pick up a Deluxe for the missus, but like everyone else, gotta wait a bit and see where we're headed.

We live in So Calif.
My 08 Softail Custom is way underpriced.
2 years ago we paid $20,000 for it with both the extended and tire warranties which are transferable. I had the stage 1 kit done which cost me $1,000.00. So I plan on taking a hit for close to $7,000.00 for owning the bike 2 years.
That is a big hit.
I do expect to loose money, but if no one wants it, I will keep it. It is a great bike.
