Default Chilhowee Engine Guard Chaps?

Hey guys I've been running a set of Chilohwee engine guard chaps since last november on my Fatboy 88cu and really like them because they keep stuff of me and the bike but now that it's starting to get warmer outside I have concerns about engint heat. Do any of you guys run these year round and if so any isues with engine cooling? I live in washington state so it rarely get's above 90 degrees here in the summer time. they have a large opening in the front and look like the desert dawg ones or kind of like the hard lowers seen on the big touring bikes.

I emailed the chlohwee site and they say it's ok to run them year round and plan on it i'm just curious to see what you guys are doing if you have a simlar set up. later guys ride safe.

I'm Running a set of Airlight's on My Heritage, but take them off in warm weather. They work great in cool weather and Rain. In warm weather it's hot enough on a Harley, why make it worse? The Airlights go on and off in seconds.

I was told when I called them that anything over 70* you should take them off.

No personal experience with those things, but seems to me that anything that would block air flow, or prevent heat dissipation couldn't be good for an air cooled bike in hot weather...

yeh, it would actually be like the cardboard on the radiator deal in the winter to a certain point.
I'd take them off.

I have a set of the chillowee guard chaps but I'll only use them if it's below 60. If you put your hand down by your rear cylinder when running with the chaps, you'll feel a lot less wind hitting that rear cylinder area compared to having them off. I would think a showroom stock leaned out from the factory motor would really cook with such little air flow. That could be why HD recommends to only use theirs below 50.

thanks for the input guys I just got back from a 2 hour ride at about 65 degrees I am probably going to take Billo3es advise and take them off when it gets above 70ish, mabye I could get a few more degrees because I'm running a softail and not a tour bike who knows. I'm loving this nice weather though after the last six months of cold and rain it's nice to have to get to worry about engine cooling again!
