Default Is there a "Governor" set on Harley's?

Seems that when I'm cranking on the throttle and I seem to max on on the RPM before I should, I do not have a tach on my bike but when I run through 1st 2nd and 3rd my bike seems to hit the rev limit and jerks me forward while the bike sputters until I shift. Anyone else have this issue or know why?

Bike is an 04 softail night train fuel injected.
V&H 2 in 2's big radius
Stage 1 screaming eagle intake.
Fuel moto power commander set with proper map.

There is a rev limiter on them. I don't know if there's a speed limiter on them or not, other than the rev limiter kicking in when you get to that point.

If you're going to drag race, shift sooner and more often.

Check your electronic module, which has a rev limiter. I don't think stock is adjustable but the aftermarket ones are adjustable.

Thats the thing its not like I'm cracking gears stoplight to stoplight. Take for example coming onto in on ramp and I need to jump out in front of traffic quickly, it just seems that I'm hitting rev limit way before it should be maxing out.

How would I go about adjusting that? U mean through my power commander that is piggy backed into my ECM? Or is there something completely seperate that you are talking about for this issues?

On my Sportster, the rpm's are limited by the Ignition Module. I think the stock one was set at 6800 rpm's. I replaced it with the Screamin Eagle Ignition Module. Now it will go to 7700 rpm's. The Harley and Screamin Eagle versions are not adjustable though

Not that I have had it revving that high

Rev limiter on the 07 i believe is set somewere around 5000 maybe 5500 but if you have an add on like a Power commander or TTs etc you can bump the rev limiter up i know on the power commander i had on my bike the rev limiter was bumped up i believe to 6000 or 6500 one of the two not sure

We had a governor in Illinois, but he got fired. Once by us, and once by Donald Trump. I'm pretty sure his next gig will last longer (prison).

What? Oh, motorcycles? My SE ignition module will allow me to flatten out my valve seals before hitting the limiter. Not always good.
