Smokin' some good stuff tonight?

Methinks you have torque and hp mixed up.

Mine was doing the same thing and one day I needed to move fast and was at the place where I thought was the limit but much to my surprise when I throttled there was a pop and it took off like a crotch rocket, then the same for 2nd gear so not sure why but there is power beyond the limit feeling.

I'm thinking that if you go to 5500 or there abouts, you're probably accellerating faster than anything else out on the road, ie, cagers, why beat the crap out of your motor? If you need more speed, maybe pulley change.

I normally don't need it all I was saying is that I thought mine was at the limit by the way it was acting at 3000 and I found out there was more past a crack.

Only problem with jumping rev limit up is valve springs,go to far and valves will start floating making valve to piston contact a real possibility.

Another could be the injectors losing fuel pressure if they aren't big enough and the fuel map in the ECM not having decent values for such high rpms, but this guy is right, valve float is the first enemy above the redline.

Just upshift, if you shift right before redline, most modern vehicules are tuned in a way that you end up right near the top of your powerband in the higher gear. Usually, stock tunes and engines will have a bit of a power fall off near redline.

I'd suggest getting a Tach for your bike until you can feel it. I had the same problem going from my 8000 rpm redline Integra with swapped engine to my 6900 rpm redline WRX. I had to look at the tach for a few weeks to get used to it.
