Default added benefit of FF helmet I did not know..

This last Monday I had to ride in the rain to get to an event. This was hard rain pouring down with a good crosswind on and off. I have been riding several decades and been in the rain many times but I just started useing a full face helmet a little over a year ago, so this was my first ride in heavy rain with it.

Let me just say Sweeeeet!!!

You know how it is when your glasses are in the rain...always wiping em off, trying to maintain visibility. Well, this was like rain-x on a windshield...the rain was just sliding right over the face shield so I never had to look through more than a few drops at a time. Even when passing trucks with the extra spray...just frigging awesome!!

So as usual, wear what the fawk you want, but this was just a nice benefit of the FF I didn't see coming.

The fact that your face isn't getting pelted by rain drops that feel like needles stinging your face is also a benefit.

true dat

Funny story about that...every time my wife would be on the back in the past when I was wearing a beanee helmet...I could hear her back there laughing her *** off as I was cursing with each stinging pelt. The louder I became, the more she laughed. Awww ain't love grand!

Another benefit is a full face helmit eliminates the need for both of these:

I got my first about 30 years ago and their great unless it gets too hot, you start seeing shooting stars at stop lights. I use a half helmet during that weather, my FF is modular so I can flip it up when needed, kind of looks funny but I love it.

Yep, when I know it's going to rain(not showers or light rain) I go to the FF. Sucks getting rain in the face at highway speed.

Can't wait till i get my full-face.

I already wear a half helmet w/ goggles and a neoprene face mask anyway because of all the construction around here.
Lot's of gravel on the road that gets picked up by the vehicle in front of you and hurled at you like it's coming from an ol BB gun.

I can relate. I have the Shark Evoline and although it makes me look like the black Power Ranger, it is a great helmet. I've reached the age where my concern for other peoples' opinion of how cool I look can be measured in micro give-a-sh*ts.

I would like to try and benefit from a FF, but I apparently make more moisture than other people. Even a 3/4 with a flip down that I leave partially up will fog over, even while moving. Ive tried various chemicals to prevent fogging, but to no avail. A beanie helmet and safety glasses are my only option. I would welcome a recommendation for a functional anti-fogging material.
