I know nearly everybody on hdforums loves the ACC carbon fiber helmet, but I don't have the money for that, and anyways I heard they had a recall because they just found out they aren't DOT.

I've been looking at Skid Lids, Vega, and Daytona half helmets and I'm wondering if anybody has recommendations... and please post a pic of one on your head if you have one. I'm looking to stay at $55 or under.

I have a Vega XTS. It won't be as "low profile" as one of the ACC helmets, and not even close to a novelty helmet. However, as far as real DOT half helmets go it's pretty good. I don't know why, but if you put the ear pads on it makes the helmet look better on your head, but then again I think that's true with all the DOT half helmets.

 

I don't think it's going to happen for under $55. If it does let me know. Thanks Coyote

Do a ebay search for carbon kevlar helmet .its not the ACC but its light weight small and DOT. Gonna run ya about a 100 bucks though . I have one and really like it

HCI are low profile and dot and cheap. Very comfortable

 

Always tickles me a little bit that folks who have no issue dropping 5k on chrome shop for a $50 helmet. Priorities I guess.

 

Hey FB. Could you please post a pick of the helmet. Inside of the helmet and if possible one of the helmet on. Since the ACC recall i have been searching for a DOT 1/2 helmet that doesn't look like mushroom head.

Bottom line, pictures won't tell you much. You have to try one before you buy.
Isn't there a joint in Baltimore selling them? Call the mfg and ask them who distributes HCI helmets there and go try one.
