True. Just bought HCI on eBay for $39.95 Buy It Now plus $5 shipping. DOT approved and happy. Actually more comfortable than the ACC which is going back for full credit. Acceptable appearance, not quite as low profile as the ACC, but acceptable.

Isn't there a joint in Baltimore selling them? Call the mfg and ask them who distributes HCI helmets there and go try one.

Thanks. There probably is a place around here. I will go to the mfg site and look for locations.

Go to leatherup.com. Have Outlaw 1/2 helmet that are DOT approved for $25 bucks. Sits a little high on your dome , pic makes it look smaller than it really is. Supposed to be the smallest weights in a little over 2 lbs. I live in a helmet free state and only bought it for traveling out of state

I have a 2 Vega XTS helmet. They fit me very well & don't lift in the wind. They are small for a DOT but not near a novelty.

I just got a HCI-100 because of all the good reviews here. It is made for a rounder head as there is a little pressure on my forehead. It also sits higher then the XTS & is not as deep. Behind a windshield it is fine but without the shield it wanted to rip my head off. I removed the visor but have not tried it without the shield.

But something I have noticed about half helmets. My buddy has a round full face & both the Vega & HCI look like novelties on him. My face is taller & narrower then his & they look totally different on me. My wife confirmed it, LOL. IMO, the shape of your head makes a half helmet look good or like a mushroom.

So far I like the XTS better but if you are always behind a windshield, the HCI is fine. Again, it could be the shape of the Vega fits my head better.

You mean Vega XTS? There's no HCI XTS that I know of. The HCI helmet comparable to the ACC is the HCI 100 DOT.

I have a couple of these, never worn. I bought them one size too big and discarded the return boxes. PM me if anyone is interested. I'll sell them for $25 shipped each or both for $40 shipped

As long as it's DOT approved there is no reason on dropping hundreds of dollars for a helmet.

I just got a carbon fiber Daytona half-helmet from HelmetsRus to replace my just-recalled ACC. It's just as light, and only a hair bigger, and it actually fits better than the ACC, which I've had for 3 years. It was $135, but still cheaper than the refund I hope to get from ACC. I'm very happy with it.
