I will be hauling my RG to AZ in a few days and figured out how to get it loaded into a Ford Ranger. Check the thread link here for pictures and details.

If I am thinking of the right truck that is not a full size. Thats a big bike. I agree with the trailer rental. Shouldn't cost too much for one way rental.

Back the truck in to a ditch or up against a hill to get the bed closer to the ground.
Even with my 3/4ton 4x4 I can get the bed about 6" from the ground.

Keep the weight off the tailgate by putting a 2x_ under the bike.
Strap it down compressing the suspension about 1/2 way.

Look at the pics in this thread starting around post#10

Wow your post hit a new low for worth...

I would not load that bike into the back of that truck. Rent a trailer or ship it.

I think most Harley places have ramps for loading and unloading bikes.

I highly recommended a big boy motorcycle ramp. Well worth the money and well built and safe. I used mine to haul my bike down to Vegas 2 winters ago, and borrowed it to my friend who used it to load his bagger with 0 problems and no sweat. the only ramp I have ever stopped on and then took off again without feeling uncomfortable

If you decide to use a ramp, here is my suggestion(s):

Ride it up, once you start moving do not stop until your rear wheel is in the truck.

Unloading- Once the bike starts down, the front brake alone will not stop it (at least coming out of my truck). Just remember that when the bike gets to the transition between the ramp and the ground, you will not be able to touch the ground. You will need a couple of helpers to hold the bike up at this point or just do like do and let it roll past quickly. Your point of not touching will be from the moment the back tire touches the ground until the front tire is on the ground.

Good luck, you will be fine as long as you don't chicken out halfway going up or coming down.

And at the other end, what if there is no hill or ditch...?

Put the rear of the truck low enough to keep the angle low, possible back into a ditch of some sort. Place some plywood in the bed unless you have faith in the cables holding the tailgate. A wheel dock would help a great deal and snug it down. It would help to have someone put their weight on it while tightening the straps....Be safe and have a good trip.

Oh don't leave it by itself, it will be easy for someone to back another pickup to it and take it.......
