Default Spilled Gas Question

So I did a search and found a number of posts about spilled gas on the paint of a tank but I couldn't find one for my problem and that was spilled gas on the black console strip down the top middle of my Street Bob's tank. After this happened it appears to have stained. I got it home and washed it off as best as I could and it appears to have mostly faded but it's dark outside now and I'm afraid it will still be there to some degree in the sunlight.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

You are going to have to try some different cleaners/oils to get it back to life,I always put a heavy protectant on from the start before anything and on everthing..I have 30 coats of wax on my Jeep, and abizzion on the bike..

Turtle Wax used to make a product called "Black Chrome", used on black plastic parts to renew the black look. I've had some success using this for the exact same reason.

Or use Mothers back to black. I had plastic that was faded a bit & I bought some black spray paint for plastic. Looks like new 1 year later!

+1 on back to black. I haven't used it on my bike, but the door handles and bumper on my truck have some faded spots and Mother's keeps them in check.

I would look at it in the morning, if it is stained, just go to the dealership and see if they have a new one, or you can look in the accessories section and see if they have a "custom" one you like. Win-win.
