Default Low volts and engine and bat light comes on random

Ok guys and gals, I have and 06 Ultra that is randomly giving me low volts, the engine light, and the bat light. the bike stays running but I know if it is under 13 the bat is not charging.

Here's the good part turn it off and back on and it all goes back to working. I know it is only time before it fails.

Thoughts?

Sounds like your battery's on its way out. However, I could be wrong, I never had any Ultra experience.

yeh, check bat first and it's connectors. Then look at all wiring and connectors. If you can get a decent look at the code being thrown, that may help narrow down the options...

Check for clean & tight grounds. Test your battery & take a good look at your stator plug. Some of them have issues with staying tightly connected!

The last bike that I had that did the exact same thing you described it was the stator, but check all of the simple and cheap stuff first.

I think they had a recall on the regulator on that year model bike...I know I replaced several on some 2007 bikes for the same symptoms you described.

My 87 charges to only 12.3 volts. You can turn on a bunch of stuff and it will maintain 12.3 volts. I thought that was odd. But it is the way that one works. Starts every time I want it to. I think I am going to post on this....get a opinion from the forums about charging voltage

It's back...
It stayed on til I got home. 9.9 volts using a meter on the bat with only the headlight on.

If I turn on everything it stays at 9.9. This to me means a voltage regulator. The bike stayed running and even started after running for the short ride home. I restarted three times and the fourth it recovered and started charging at 14.4.

My thoughts and if anyone has better please speak up, are this:
If it is a bad bat it would not have restarted
If it a bad stator it would drop below 9.9 when I turned on more stuff.
If it was a bad connector the volts would jump around with the bike running. You all know the vib of them things running.

I am going with the regulator if no one speaks up.
