Default fender welding question

I am putting on a differant fender on my bike and I need to weld up the holes, so I was thinking about putting some steel on the inside of the fender and then welding up the holes and was wondering if this is a good or bad idea Thanks for any help i can get

It is a good idea if you want a hunk of steel on the inside of your fender.
Use a piece of copper or brass ot back up the inside of the fender, it won't get welded to the inside of the fender. The weld won't stick to it.

Right on the money, I use a copper pipe fitting from the hardware store. Just build up your weld, then sand it back down.
