stuck at traffic light, no more

RE: stuck at traffic light, no more
Green Light Triger is the product for sale, I've used them in the past and they do assist with the trouble lights ( most of them) but they're just a magnet. If you can pick these up at Ace then that'll be the way to go...

This has probably been covered before but I will see if anyone has had similar luck. I have seen magnet gadgets advertised that are supposed to be mounted underneath your motorcycle. The purpose of them is to affect the magnetic field at a traffic light, tripping it similar to effect of a car body. These magnets list for $20 plus. I was at the local Ace Hardware store and found some neodymium super magnets ( Ace part #2102267, package #07046) for $3.49. There are 6 to a package, and sized .47" dia. X .11" thick. Very small. I thought what the heck and mounted them across the front of my bike and went testing them. I went to several traffic lights and dang, if they didnt appear to trip the lights. I tried several more intersections, same thing. So I guess they work.

Traffic lights around here haven't used weight trips in over 10 years. If there are still some around on the ground it is likely they aren't functional.
The detector circuit is a tuned inductive circuit. What trips the detector is the metal mass changing the loop inductance by absorbing some of the energy, this causes a frequency change in the circuit.
Heat affects these things, cold affects these things, some of them are just plain cheap and will drift out of tune.
If you can see the cut lines on the pavement, place your engine over the corner of the loop. That is where metal mass affects the loop the most.
Your better off spending the money on gas instead of magnets.
I worked for the traffic signal in Memphis for 4 years.

I bought one of those Green Light Trigger magnets when they first came out several years ago, when they were selling them for about 5 bucks.
It's still there and still changing traffic lights.

If you get a couple of self tapping large screws about two inches long you can adhere them right to the bottom of the oil pan.

It'll 'stick to the bottom of your frame rail. For extra support, you can ziptie it to the rail.

Another trick is to put the kickstand down. It doesn't have to be a magnet, it's the amount of steel that interupts the magnetic waves.... that's why with my lifted H2, I get the same thing... not close enough to the ground to break the magnetic field. I could go to the same light with my corvette and it would set it off.
