It's Official - MoCo moving to China
Dateline Milwaukee, WI - 01 APR 10
Harley-Davidson Motor Company made the official announcement today that all U.S. operations will cease as of 31 DEC 10, and all current manufacturing operations will be relocated to the city of Xiang in mainland China. Citing sluggish sales and a dwindling market, the MoCo also announced that a restructuring of their model lines will also take place. The Touring line and the Sportster line will each remain intact, the VRSC line will no longer be manufactured, and the Dyna and Softail lines will be combined and reduced to offer only the following models:the WideGride, the Splinger, and the FatBoy Ro.
