I have a leaking trans shifter seal and mainshaft seal leak. It's not too bad just a little wetness by the pulley.I think I am going to run it for awhile as it looks to be alot of work. What say the experts?

Inner and outer primary and everything in between has to come off...4 to 5 hrs labor the the dealer or a weekend in your garage...service manual is a must.

DO NOT use a HD replacment seal, from what I understand it only a single lip seal...these are better options and are all double lip

SKF/CR oil seal #4260

National oil seal #472810

Cometic oil seal #C9259

+1 if you are running formula+ or 20w50 or synthetic oil in your trans change out your trans oil to 80w90 or 85w140 dino gear oil it might slow it down enough to make the entire season.

REPLACE IT!!! it will just get worse, last season i tried to "ride mine out for the rest of the year" it got so bad that oil was blowing out all over the guys behind me, talk about some pissed off friends! it is not a hard job, a local shop can prob knock it out in about 2 hours. it is simple to remove the outter and inner, need a torque wrench, but that is really about all that is special, a impact is a plus as well. just check your manual to make sure you check your cluch and rotor removal direction, one is standard (i am pretty sure the front) and the cluch is rev thread... i think that is how mine was Saturday, but i can not recall off hand. Replace it now, you will not want to have to base your trips on if the leak is going to get worse and worse...

I kind of felt it was caused by syn.trans oil.False seal.Probably still been alright with dino.

You need a couple of larger sockets that are not found in every set...OP might what to get these on hand before he starts

1 1/2 socket on the compensating nut

1 3/16 inch socket on the clutch main nut

I ordered my seals today... job will get done in the week or so
