What is the best polish for removing light scratches
I'm unsure of using cut wax and have never really used any other polishing compound. Do any of you recommend and specific compound for taking out scratches?

Meguiar's is probably the best stuff you'll find easily/locally.
I have been using 3M Imperial Hand Glaze for 15 years. It's a great, safe, easy to use paint cleaner that will work fine for filling swirls and other minor imperfections. If you have something moderate, oxidation, etc. I recommend a good machine polish and a Porter Cable 7424 Random Orbital buffer. I prefer Griot's Garage machine polishes myself. Now, before you choke on the price of the Porter Cable, know that it will outlast you and you truly get what you pay for like any other tool. It will out perform and out last anything else that costs less. I have the model that predates it, which cost about 150 bucks back in the early 90's, and it still runs like new.
