I was checking the HD kool-aid gear in my closet, do not have a China jacket or any HD jacket for that matter. However more shirts made in India then anything. Was glad to that when I looked at my favorite long sleeve t-shirt it was Made in USA, St. Louis to be exact. What a surprise!!
But as others noted...we have been down this path before. Buy it or pass the global sourcing is here to stay.

What about the bits? ...I gave up and bought the Chinese bits and found out that each bit in the set would make one hole and you'd have to throw it out. I think they make their bits out of potmetal...

No. Everything isn't made in China. If it's an issue for you, you need to check more than a couple of places. As for HD selling things made in China - it's an American company with thousands of American workers who get paid when you buy HD products. Why would you have a problem supporting your fellow Americans?

I love it. My garage is a shrine to Chinese manufacturing.
I appreciate how good the Chinese prisoners and slave labor work provides me with $9.95 1/2" torque wrenches and all the similar valued items. Yahoo!
My sets of coated drill bits has been going great for 12 years now with heavy use. Some one must not be able to drill straight. The tools, boxes, 4 post lifts, 50 ton press, grinder, chop saw, vises, router and table, air tools, sockets, wrenches, parts washer, air compressor and on and on. China baby.
The two four post lifts -$5K total delivered to my driveway.
