I have and love my 04 Heritage..I have rented an Ultra and rode 10 days around NV.. and the diff is my wife liked the large seat in back on the ultra and the air shock ride and she got to bring lots more stuff than with my Heritage.. I liked the way the fairing handle the wind on the Ultra vs. Heritage's windshield.. Could ride the tires off both.. I like the quick disconnects on the Heritage better and the softtail ride when solo..

Work a touring passenger seat into the deal and your wife will never have a complaint. Also, have them set it up with a slightly stiffer shock setting then normal so you won't bottom them out while two up.

I would hope the standard shock setting would be fine as the wife goes barely over 100....

Seat thou is a good idea!!!

I personally like the Heritage. You have the best of both worlds. Bags and a shield when you want and a slick classic solo when you want. Throw some white walls for an even better look. If all you do is travel...maybe the ultra. I would go in between and get a Street Glide.

My wife and I have an 07 Heritage and take long trips every year , live in Iowa and have been to Canada twice, Vegas, Washington state ,and every where in between usually 500-600 mile days and love it. Last year 4600 miles 9 days and enjoyed the hell out of it . I have to admit I absolutely love the looks of a Street Glide , but I am perfectly happy with my FLSTC.

Why has no one mentioned the Road King?

My wife and I also have an 07 Heritage and love it. We have taken long trips and found it comfortable and it is also great for the shorter day trips. I have quick detach bags so if I want I can strip in down and ride that way. We are planning on driving it to Sturgis this summer and we live in North Carolina which is a little over 1700 miles one way.
