Default I Wish I had - Kinda

Now dont get me wrong. I'm having a blast on my FXD.

But I'm almost wishing that I had gone ahead and got a Road King.

I can say without a doubt that in a year or two I will trade in for one. How much tradein will I get for my Super? It will be in topnotch shape. I keep em that way.

If you trade it in, you will get blue book with possibly a little for any add ons. Hopefully, by the time you trade, the market won't be flooded with RUB bikes.

I wouldn't trade it in with the dealer, they will knock your socks off, sell it outright, you'll get what is worth, then go get the one ya want!!!!

If I was going to sell a bike, I would use the internet to research what the going rates are on bikes like yours. That way, I would know what to ask and I would also know if my dealer was trying to give me a fair price. I've known people that have had good luck going both ways. Personally, you might be better off to sell it outright, but it wouldn't hurt to check all possibilities.

Talked to a dealer about trading in my 2000 Sporty and he said it was worth $3,500. I sold it for $5,500. Did not return to that dealer to look for a bike. I did find a very low mileage Ultra and bought it instead of new.

Mike - I am in the same boat as you - I love my bike, got a good fair deal, like my dealer but I am kicking myself cause I got the Softail and now wish I had bit the bullet and got the Electra Glide Classic I dream about everynight - The few bucks more a month it would have cost me seem like nothing to me now - DOH!!!! Not complaining and I do love my ride and maybe I can even figure out a way to fix it - I am willing to take a small bath but I am not going to the prison showers either! Good luck!!!!!

I too am willing to take a "spit bath", but not a full fledged soaking.

I was the one who should have bought what I rally wanted to start with.

Being my 1st Hog, I thought I would start at entry level. I know better know and at least I can advise others who might be thinking the same thing.

I"m gonna check out all the ovenues.

Mike,

Sell yours outright, you'll get a better price for it. Now go get what you want. The Superglide is a great bike, but if it doesn't fit your riding style, you will never fully enjoy your riding experiece.

Regards,

Bill

Went to Kelly Blue Book online and input all the info on my bike. It came back with a message that said that there had not been enough tradeins and sales of 05's to base a price on yet.

I'm going to call my dealer today just to see what he says. It should prove interesting. I really like the dealership. They have been very upfront about everything so far. This will be a real test.

Called my dealer. Talked with the sales guy.

Here is the deal.

Knock $1295 off msrp on my bike. I have 900 miles on it. Not as bad as I thought they would clip it.

MSRP on a new RK.

Or - there is an 04 RK custom with windshield, backrests, and pipes that I can pick up for about 1000 less than an 05. Still 1 1/2 years of warranty left. 2500 miles on the bike.

Opinions?
