If my state did not have a helmet law I would ride without a helmet as well.
As I used to do in your state back in the day.
We all come to motorcycles from a different angle. Why would you care what anyone else is wearing? You admitted you own a F.C. jacket- why so hostile when anyone recommends one?
Edit: BTW for some a riding and a smoking jacket is the same thing! lol

Get the "apparel ladies" at the dealership to give you a call, when they clear out their inventory of leather later on this summer. I got a $425 HD jacket for $184 last summer. It was one that they had just intro'd that year, and had a hard time keeping my size in stock. BUT....they had three left (2 at one dealer, and 1 at another across town), and blew them out at $184 around July....
Maybe I got lucky, but it worked for me. I would not have thought about it, unless the girl that I made friends with told me to wait until summer. She said that they do it every year, but this IS FLORIDA, so leather does not sell well even in dead of winter.

I bought this new H-D American Legend Jacket a couple of days ago for $228.50 shipped. I normally would not buy an H-D jacket but the price was hard to pass up.

Have two HD leather jackets - love them both. The winter one has fleece liner & just got the new classic leather jacket w/mesh liner for spring/summer/fall. Definitely try them on to get size correct & then I found a gr8 on-line deal w/Tri-County HD through Harley-Davidson.com. This jacket listed for $375 at my local HD shop, but Tri-County had it for $280. Might be worth your while...good luck!

Traditionally a heavy leather jacket is what motorcyclists have worn. Armor is a relatively new technical advance. If you feel the need to wear armored clothing -do so in good health. I wear a tee shirt in the summer-My choice.

Great jacket but after about 6 years the zipper went and needed a new one put in. Went to an old time shoemaker and he put a Y2K zipper in for about $60 buck. Still happy with the jacket. I prefer the heavy weight over the med/light type.
