I'm originally from Florida - North Georgia is like an artic breeze compared to there. I think Helen is a comfortable summer ride.
The traffic on the main drag in Helen sucks, but the backroads make it negotiable. Some fun roads in the area. Decent watering holes. It's an easy 140 mile round trip from my house, so it's a great lunch (liquid) destination.
