Both brakes for anything above 1st gear. Rear only in first to come to a stop to avoid front wheel lock up or bike drop!

Took the words right out of my mouth. I figure if Harley thought we needed brakes and front and rear, they sort of expect us to use them. Having said that, there is a reason the front has two discs versus the rear brakes consisting of one disc. Just experience a front wheel lockup encountering a slick spot on the pavement and see why a rear brake should be used too.

I too use mostly the front. 70% of braking should be done with the front. I am always on the ready to use the rear if needed, and do regularly. I do ride a lot easier than I used too.
I brag that this is the first bike I haven't ridden a wheelie, and don't expect too.

At real low speed traffic crawls or maneuvering, I drag the rear brake. Otherwise, I use them together.

I have 25k on the front and there still org's.. The brake I use 75% of the time.

Dealer replace the rears at 15k service, said there almost gone, I seldom use them. I checked the ones they took off after I got them back home and there's over 50% of material still there.... they got me for some $$$$ on that one...
Won't do that one again....
