Default Removing HD Helmet lock

Hey has anyone ever tried to remove the HD helmet lock? I need to move mine up a bit and the screws are one way screws. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Dremal them off is the easiest way. But you can also Drill out the head or file it but that takes time and have to work real careful.

Once you get the head off you can take it off and use pliers to get the rest of the screw out with no problem.

i sort of wanted to reuse it...I just need to move it up a little on the frame downtube. This is seriously the only way? I knew I should have used allen heads in there instead!

Reverse drill bit and an easy out. Then use allens. I want to move mine too but I am too lazy.

I can usually get them out with a good pair of vise grips.

I managed to get mine off when I put on my oil cooler using a nearly new (still had a sharp square shouldered bit end) screwdriver and a small hammer.
Tapped it with the hammer to get it to 'bite' then turned them out.
I haven't put it back on, yet because of the one way screws.
But thanks for the idea of using Allen head.
It made me remember that somwhere in my junk pile I think I have some tamper proof Torx screws that should fit.
If their the right size I'll use them instead.

You can the only thing your ruining is the screws, you can buy new ones or use allens if you want to put it back on.

That's why I said take your time so as to not to marr up the finish just the bolts.

I drilled mine off and now just use a combination cable helmet lock. Much easier to use at least on my Heritage.

Needle nose Vice Grips work perfect and you can re-use the screws too. Don't ask me how I know....
