The towns or cities where the Toyotas probably appreciate the payroll checks that the employees earn but the company's profits still head to Japan. I don't find fault with the people on the line, they build them like they are told.

Bad news about Caterpillar though, glad to hear that they are bringing jobs back to the states but they have dropped their on highway truck engine and are now manufacturing internal engine parts for Internationals Maxx Force engine. That's right, no more Pete's or Kenworths with Cat engines.

That's only because Cat was barely able to meet 2007 EPA emissions, and could not get their on-hiway truck engines to meet the minimal EPA emissions for 2010 with out investing billions of dollars into R&D.
They basicly threw in the towel for the on-hiway market and are focusing on the off road / marine market now.
Way to go CAT for bringing them jobs back to the USA!

According to Caterpillar the EGR system was not the best way to reduce emissions, Cat's Clean Gas Induction was the way to go. Looks like Cummins had a little bit better engineering on this. Now we will start seeing Urea fill stations at truck stops for selective catalyst reduction, with this new system we are supposed to see a 5% increase in fuel mileage as well in the on highway truck market.
