Primary Chaincase Rattle Only When Cold
By cold, I mean when the drivetrain is not fully up to operating temerature yet... Doesn't really have anything to do with ambient temp...
My bike has about 12,000 miles on it. The primary rattles for the first 10 minutes or so in the morning or anytime that the bike has cooled off. It rattles when under load and typically in the mid/upper RPM range.
I've tried the suggestion on website on how to tighten the chain, but it doesn't help. The method is to gun it in 1st gear up to near redline, and then slam on the rear brake, not pulling in the clutch until it is amost stoped.
I've also inspected inside the primary by removing the primary cover. Everything looks ok. I also removed and reset the automatic tensioner too... But still no help.
Now I'm thinking about the SOHB Wedge.

Above is the method of "how to ruin your crankshaft".
Sounds like your compensator is having issues. I swapped mine for the SE Compensator.

The sound you are talking about sounds like inner trans bearing. Check you oil levels in trans. To see if you have a leak is to put the red oil (red line oil) in the trans as a marker to see if it's leaking into primary. I know the dyna's had alot of bad bearings and that is was it sounded like.

Trans fluid level is fine, and I already use RL Shockproof Heavy.

Sounds are hard to describe... but it sounds like a metal gargle or rattle. Happens under load, like right before you would normally shift. Does not happen at idle.

If you are still under warranty, I'd get it to the dealership.
The SE Compensator is not that expensive, but a lil bit of a pain to install.
These bikes should come stock with the SE Comp. It is just so much better built with a way heavier spring pack.
