RE: Sportbikes
There's not one Harley product out there that would come even close to any 600cc and above japanese, german or italian motorcycle. Even amongst these brands the competition for horse power and handling is extremely fierce. It hasn't been one year in as far as I can remember not to have a "war" of some sort for supremacy. A Harley is a Harley and whoever rides one does not intend to race anybody , especially someone on a crouchrocket. If you feel like one bike , or to me more precise one type of riding is not satisfying enough , go pick a second-hand jap bike for those adrenaline rush early mornings up in the twisties. I have a Kawasaki zrx1200r just for that and I love it !
ORIGINAL: Tripper
Or the new Street Rod. It supposedly designed to be crotch rocket killer.
Even better, just enjoy your Sporty and do the free breathing air cleaner, exhaust, and rejet the carb and do not worry about the ear oilers.
ORIGINAL: Clammy
Get a VRod.
Cheers!

Have you guys seen the new Harley comercial that shows numerous guys driving jap bikes dropping off their dates and being turned down at the curb and then the last one shown is a Harley parked at the curb, then you here a girl gigling inside and the announcer says "things are different with a Harley" or something to that effect. Well...I sure do have to agree. [8D]
I guess this has nothing to do with going fast. I just wanted to share :P

RE: Sportbikes
If I still had that overwhelming "go faster" streak, then I would ride a Hiabusa. If I wanted a cruiser that would also smash sportbikes, I would ride a Triumph Rocket III. But I like Harley. I don't have to go fast (or faster than some kid) to enjoy the ride. And, all the while I know that what I'm riding looks good and turns heads, sounds good, and has something no sportbike will ever have, and that's CLASS!

I agree - it is not a race unless you are on a race track. Otherwise, the purpose of a Harley is not to race. If that is the concern/need, then go buy something that will compete - just don't do it on the street that I am riding on.
